Rook sits on the makeshift bed, lighting a candle from a lantern, while Orla watches. "You haven't seen fire up close?"
"Only shining on boats, from far away."
"You can see it up close, but don't touch."
Rook and Orla's faces are in close up, the light of the candle between them casting light and shadows. "So bright..." Orla looks entranced.
"Can you see in the dark?" Rook looks pleased to be sharing this new experience with her.
"Yes, can you not?"
"...No. Most of us can't."
Rook sits back a little, and Orla regards him with interest. "Oh. How do you hunt?"
"We... farm? I mean, *I* don't. But people raise animals in pens, and grow plants. Some of us just buy food off the people who make it."
"You live together often, don't you? Groups of you, like schools of fish." Orla asks.
"A lot of us do, aye."
