In the center of the page Rook lies sprawled on his back sideways across his bed, talking to Orla who is leaning with her front half of her body also on the bed, tentacles trailing across the floor. "He was chatting me up again, Alvarez."
"Are you in danger? He is your enemy."
"He's... not. At least not yet. We've never had a bad run in with that crew, but they're not friends, either?" Rook looks slightly uncertain.
"Is he a leader- a Captain?" Orla says this in a way that suggests she is still learning the terminology of ship crew ranks.
"No, first mate. That's the one that relays a lot of the captain's orders, sort of second in command. That's above a bosun, like me."
"Is this how you are able to live together all the time? You must know always who is in charge above who else?"
"...Maybe? It's important on a ship, but I guess it's like that in the cities, too. When I was a housema- nevermind." Rook sits up, but still looks relaxed and pleased to be talking to Orla. "I like it here with you. We're equals."
"He follows you in town. Do you have to go there?" Orla is still concerned about the problem that is Alvarez.
"I have to buy food, and check for word of the StarSong. There's a shepherd I've been renting a hut from..."
Now Orla sits up, too. "But you... aren't staying there."
"It would be a riskier place for you to come to. It's better here. I just have to be more careful."
